The folks behind the fun and twisted mayhem of the Grand Theft Auto and Max Payne series have returned. Rockstar games are back with a new adventure classic that is sure to cause stuffy politicians to hyperventilate in panic.
The game in question is Manhunt and players are put in the role of convicted felon James earl Cash. During his scheduled execution via lethal injection, Cash awakens to discover that he was slipped a sedative instead of the lethal cocktail and is now the star in a violent game of life and death courtesy of snuff film director know as Lionel Starkweather. It seems that Cash is wanted by several low life elements and Starkweather has recruited their help in taking out cash once and for all. In a brutal and barbaric contest, cash is forced to kill or be killed in some of the most gruesome ways ever portrayed in a game.
Using a myriad of weapons ranging from Shotguns, pistols, bricks, heads, dart guns, plastic bags, broken glass and so on, Cash has to eliminate his enemies. The twist is that the more gruesome the killing, the higher the rating given courtesy of an in game security system.
The enemies’ range from crazed Redneck gangs to commandos and my favorite, the crazed chainsaw-wielding nutcases in pig faces known as Piggys.
Stealth is an essential element of the game as is a good constitution as Manhunt is neither for the faint of heart nor the easily offended and is most definitely not for children. That being said, the graphics and gameplay are solid and the voice work of Brian Cox as cash shows that once again, Rockstar is at the top of their game and have crafted a dark and disturbing adventure, that transcends all other games in the genre and sets new standards for a dark and twisted world and disturbing images
