“Blackthorn” Is A Butch Cassidy Sequel?
Arcadia Motion Pictures is set to produce “Blackthorn”, a ‘sort of sequel’ to the story of Butch Cassidy reports Variety.
Sam Shepard is set to play Cassidy, aka. Robert LeRoy Parker, fifteen years after he was thought to have been gunned down by the Bolivian police. Now living incognito, he plans to come back to the U.S. and retire.
Eduardo Noriega will play a free wheeling cowboy who loses Cassidy’s life savings which pushes Cassidy into a final job involving a mine heist.
Stephen Rea will play a railroad employee, originally sent after Cassidy following his string of U.S. bank robberies, who’s still keen to hunt Cassidy down.
Mateo Gil directs the $7.5 million project which begins shooting in March in Spain and Bolivia.
