Sony E3 2011

The 2011 E3 Expo in Los Angeles was held in rapt attention Monday evening by the Sony conference. The forum which was streamed online to countless viewers was a grand kickoff to the convention as Sony unveiled some of the things that gamers can look for to in the coming year.

With the recent disabling the PlayStation network due to hackers and the resulting questions about the security of users confidential information, Sony needed to step up big time and put the focus back where it belongs on their games and hardware.

While there was no talk of the PlayStation 4, Sony did rollout the PlayStation Vita which is the latest in next-generation handheld platforms for the company. The system touts an impressive list of features and games as well is a surprisingly reasonable price tag of $249.99 or $299.99 for the 3GS model.

While no release date for the system has been set, impressive system should be a huge plus for Sony even if the name is better suited for mineral water.

3-D continue to be a big topic for Sony as the company has a long list of games pending that will support this feature thanks to the 3-D enabled Blu-ray at the core of the PlayStation three system. Sony announced a $499 3-D television bundle that will also include Resistance 3, a pair of 3-D glasses, and a 6 foot HDMI cable. With pending titles such as Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception and a slew of third-party titles that will take advantage of 3-D technology this is a step in the right direction for the emerging 3-D television market.

Other titles of note included Starhawk and Dust 514 has well is the interesting announcement that the pending Bioshock Infinite will include support for the PlayStation move motion control.

The very impressive Sony booth on the convention floor was packed with convention goers eager to see what the company had on display in to meet with the developers as well as gain some hands-on time with the pending releases.

Sony will also have new titles in the God of War series as well as the highly popular Ratchet and Clank series

I was very happy to see that a new Twisted Metal game is coming and that with Infamous 2 releasing that same day that the future looks very bright indeed for the console.
