Does Adding Exo-Zombies To Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare Make It A Game Changer For Critics Of The Series

In just a few days, the first of the four planned DLC packs for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be released. The expansion entitled Havoc is due on 1-27-15 first for the Xbox systems and will be followed soon after by the PC and PS systems. The DLC follows the usual pattern of offering new maps that will tide over players until the next pack which in turn will do the same until all four have been released leading up to launch of the next title in the series.

As in the past, 4 new maps will be offered and usually a new weapon also comes into play as well as a new game mode. Recent releases had four players battling waves of undead or playing in the episodic Extinction mode which did give a nice new style of gameplay for fans.

Havoc is taking the tried and true approach of bringing back Zombies but in a smart twist, they have players playing as an All-Star cast. This is not the first time this has happened as players played legends of horror against George Romero in the past and other name actors have been playable content before in DLC.

What makes Havoc so different is the inclusion of Exo Zombies for players to battle against. That is right, as if legions of undead brain suckers were not enough, the developers decided to give them Exo Suits so they would have the ability to make amazing leaps, hit harder, and do all manner of horrible things to anyone caught in their clutches.

Despite being the best -selling game in the world every year, there are those that lament that COD has become essentially the same thing every year just with new maps and a few new weapons. They cite the same gameplay model, issues with hackers, and such and say that it is not evolving enough and has become predictable.

I for one have really enjoyed Advanced Warfare as the solo campaign kept my attention and the online play has been much better than Ghosts and amongst the most fun in recent releases for me. That being said, I can see how some can say that they need something new in their COD experience.

So my question to you is this…. Are Exo Zombies a game changer in the series?

Does the addition of a new type of Zombies not seen before in gaming make you more or less interested in the series and the DLC or do you just see it as another zombie mode with window dressing?
You can check out Havoc next week and until then, play safe and inspired.
