Marriott Mission Valley: San Diego

Recently my wife and I had the opportunity to stay at the lovely Marriott Mission Valley hotel in beautiful San Diego.

Despite constant rain during most of our time in California; the hotel was a warm and inviting Oasis after a 90 plus minute drive down from the Buena Park area.

Located not far from the Freeways; the hotel is surrounded by ample restaurants and numerous shopping options and is also a very easy drive away from attractions such as SeaWorld, Balboa Park, The San Diego Zoo, and the San Diego Convention Center which makes it an ideal option for San Diego Comic-Con,

The arrival area was spacious and had several couches and a large courtyard which overlooked the pool and is adjacent to the conference area.

I really enjoyed seeing the Christmas tree lit up and resplendent as it made for a very nice splash of color on an otherwise gloomy day.

The spacious lobby had plenty of areas for guests to sit, relax, and wait for others as did the nearby bar and shop.

Our check in was very fast and I was taken with how prestigious the hotel looked and was amazed at the daily rate as usually one expects to pay significantly more for a hotel that offers upper end accommodations.

There was a member’s lounge off the elevator and we were soon on the way to the 16th floor to take in the amazing view our room and balcony offered us.

The room was very inviting and featured a King bed, multiple lamps, a coffee maker, and a flat screen television which also offered us a chance to use our Netflix and other logins to stream content.

Naturally there was also a desk and sofa area and the usual things you would look for such as a safe, iron, and so on.

Wi-Fi is available at $9.95 a day or $14.95 for a faster speed option. This can be negated by being a member of the Bonvoy rewards club which is free to join.

We noticed several events seemed to be happening during our stay and they helped us see the versatility of the property as they were able to accommodate the various events without any lack of service or inconvenience to us during our stay, even when we went to and from the hotel and garage in the later evenings.

The bed was incredibly soft and comfortable and we had easily the best night of sleep that we had during which was very welcome after missing our Memory Foam mattress and enduring firmer sleeping options.

The pool area was breathtaking as it is in a recessed area of the courtyard and offered a water feature, covered areas to enjoy hanging and other lounges and fitness areas. I especially liked the way that workout equipment was poolside under cover.

Sadly the rain and cold weather limited us to admiring it from afar but I made a mental note to try to visit during warmer weather as it would be one of the better pool areas in recent memory.

The hotel offers parking at $29.00 per night and there are spots around the hotel as well as parking garages which are numerous and secured via a room keycard.

Our checkout was smooth and pleasant and while the rain and cold remained as we left, we had nothing but good memories and nothing but great things to say about the hotel.

If you want premium quality service and amenities at a reasonable price and a very appealing and convenient locale, they please check out the Marriott Mission Valley.
