Cobra Kai Season 5: Everything We Know So Far

2022 will grace us with the 5th season of Cobra Kai, a popular series that’s coming out on Netflix. Although the filming phase is already concluded, no concrete release date has been set yet. However, there are certain things that we do know for sure, some of which we’ll be sharing below.

As you probably know already, Cobra Kai is an American martial arts comedy-drama television series and a sequel to the iconic Karate Kid, a movie classic with a massive following to this very day. The franchise has left its mark on pop culture in several ways. In 2022, a Broadway musical adaptation of The Karate Kid was announced, set to be live this May.

In addition to that, numerous Karate Kid-themed video games have seen the light of day, including the recently released Cobra Kai: Card Fighter and even a slot game titled Karate Kid that can be found at the best online casino NJ brands such as Party Casino.

Currently, Cobra Kai season 5 is in post-production, as reported by Zach Robinson, the show’s composer. Although the new season will stay faithful to its roots, we are in for quite a bit of surprise, story-wise.

With Kreese being cast behind bars for the assault of String Ray he was framed for, nothing stands in the way of Terry Silver taking over the dojo. Opening several dojos over the Valley, Silver’s plans will fully fruition. Of course, this means war between Cobra Kai and the rival dojos.

As the eternal struggle between Cobra Kai and Miyagi Do goes on, a full-blown showdown between the two opposing dojos is imminent in the new season. Although Daniel LaRusso did not give his word, he will go against his vows and continue his teachings at Miyagi Do dojo. To aid him in his fight, he will be joined by Chozen Toguchi; his former nemesis turned friend.

Chozen’s combat style tends to be brutal and geared towards the “life or death” principle, which is not in alignment with the ways of Miyagi Do. Still, he owes one to Daniel, and with him at his side, the legacy of the dojo can stand to see another day.

As for Robby? Torn between the conflicting philosophies of Cobra Kai and Miyagi Do, he opted for the middle ground. Mentoring Kenny, unfortunately, went awry as he realized he had created a bully. Although Johhny will do his part to encourage Robby to leave his former dojo, he may stay regardless to atone for his past mistakes.

Will the bullied become the bully? Everything is set in place for Daniel to start teaching the art of Karate to Anthony, something he has no choice but to do if he wants to stand a fighting chance against Kenny.

If Miguel finds his biological father, nothing will be the same ever again. At the moment, Miguel’s existence is not something he is aware of. If the two of them do end up meeting at some point, all hell will break loose, and we are more than likely to see a confrontation of some sort.

Cast-wise, there haven’t been official confirmations as of yet, but it would be unlikely for certain key characters not to return. For instance, Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence are bound to appear in the new season.

Consequently, we will also see the return of William Zabka and Ralph Macchio. It’s very likely Amanda LaRusso, and Carmen Diaz will be back too. Terry Silver will play a significant part in season 5, and we can expect John Kreese to seek justice after he is released from prison.

Sting Ray made a surprise appearance in season 4, so it’s anyone’s guess whether he will be back or not. Anthony LaRusso and Devon, on the other hand, are both likely to make a return.

With everything being said, is the fifth season of Cobra Kai the final one? Based on what Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald, and Hayden Schlossberg (the series’ creators) have shared thus far, the series has an ambitious future ahead of itself, so concluding the story at this point seems unlikely.

So brace yourself for Cobra Kai season 5 as we gradually see its release at some point in 2022 (2023 at the latest)!
