Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood Offers Frights And Fun

By Ryan and Sharon Eltiste.

Our annual trip to Universal Halloween horror nights did not disappoint this year as we were able to experience all 8 mazes and enjoy a couple rides at the same time.

Our first maze we entered was The Blumhouse.

In this maze we encountered too different worlds “The black phone” and “Freaky” where you jump out of your skin as characters jump out at you and you feel you are living in a real horror seen. Universal has made the maze exciting with the anticipation of fear around every corner.

La Llorona was the next maze we hit. It is the story of the mother who drowned her children and herself yet she came back to life to haunt others. This maze was eerie and could feel her pain as she took it out on the onlookers going through the maze. You could hear her cries as it depicts her past actions and her regret for those actions and the anger that accompanied them as she came back for revenge.

The haunted hotel was next on our list. A place you would not want to stay where the guests check in and never check out. As we walked down the creepy halls we experienced each room where the murders happened leaving you with a creepy eerie feeling hoping your not next.

As we walked through the scare zones to endure our next maze the haunted forest kept the ambiance alive and going as creatures were walking around you never knowing where they were coming from along with the creepy sounds of the forest keeping your wonder what is around the next corner.

Took a walk through the land of Harry Potter experiencing the magic that happens there where both rides were open along with a cup of butter beer we continued on our way to the next two mazes which were Halloween where we walked through the story of Michael Myers watching him grow from a kid with a bedsheet on his head to a maniac killer being startled at every turn. This was one of my favorite mazes. The second in this area was scarecrow the reaping set on a farm as the scarecrow comes to life on a murderous rampage as he would stuff his victims as was done to him. This was very scary and high in my list as a favorite.

Next we rode the escalators to the bottom of universal and took a break from scares to enjoy a ride on Jurassic world where dinosaurs of past come to life and we felt a great thrill with the big drop as the ride came to an end.

Next we enjoyed Legends collide where it took the original universal monsters, the Mummy, the Vampire and the Werewolf and brought them to life. Awesome costumes and well done as while you appreciate the scenery you still get scared at every corner.

The Weekend after hours nightmare was just that. Not my favorite as others loved it. I didn’t enjoy the bizarre realistic devilish ambiance. My wife and I tried to make sense of the disturbing maze but maybe we’re getting too old.

Killer Clowns was my favorite.
Bright colors being scared and laughing at the same time brought me real joy. We left the maze fulfilled as I could do that one all night and still be surprised with amazement.

The terror tram was excellent this year as you are dropped off by the bates motel whereHarry the clown has a Halloween party but his guests didn’t look like they were having a good time as they were being attacked. We continued walking a trail up the hill by the psycho house being attacked by Harry the clown and his guard dogs. Later on our walk we had to endure cats alley and pumpkin alley where Harry the clown continued to pop out and haunt everyone.

Next on our walk we entered the actual set of Jordan Peel’s “Nope” and “Us” as scenes were acted out from the actual movies making us feel as we were part of it all.

Overall we feel that this was one of the better Halloween Haunts we’ve been to in a long time and we’re happy to have been able to attend as our tradition of going annually over the past 14 years.
