KillHer Comes To Screamfest

Looks like a great one for Screamfest.

A bachelorette party in the not-so-uninhabited woods is the classic set-up for the unconventional KillHer, an intense indie thriller chosen as one of five full-length feature films to have its World Premiere as a centerpiece of the prestigious Screamfest Horror Film Festival in Hollywood, CA.

The KillHer World Premiere takes place on Thursday, October 13 at 9:30pm at the TCL Chinese 6 Theaters (6801 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028), located on the 3rd floor of the Hollywood & Highland Center.

KillHer cast and filmmakers will take part in both pre-screening red carpet interviews and photos, and a post-screening Q&A. Tickets for the premiere can be purchased for just $13 apiece via https://www.eventbrite.com/e/killher-tickets-423713688047.

In KillHer, four young women roughing it in the mountain wilds, far from paved roads and cell service, inadvertently set their tents in a precarious part of the woods – and way too close to a mysterious recluse with an angry, tortured disposition. Their weekend camping trip takes another wrong turn when people start dying in ugly fashion, leading to the reveal of a horrific secret. All these girls wanted was a killer bachelorette party … and that’s exactly what they got. KillHer takes the traditional isolated-in-the-woods thriller and turns it on its ear, harkening shades of classic slasher films of the past 40 years.

KillHer achieved its goal of creating a modern horror cult classic with an added degree of difficulty – the film was conceived, written, planned and filmed completely during the pandemic in a virtual bubble. All pre-production was handled over Zoom or socially distanced in the producers’ backyard, and the actual 12-day shoot taking place while nestled deep in the mountains of Big Bear during Fall 2021.

The core cast of KillHer spotlights a foursome of young, burgeoning actresses: Jenna Z. Alvarez (Kidding, Disney’s Shook) as bride-to-be Mattie, M.C. Huff (Poker Nights) as best friend Eddie, and Emily Hall (Leverage: Redemption, Animal Kingdom) and Nicole Lovince (Pitch Perfect, Dear White People) Mattie’s pals Jess & Rae, respectively. The film also features a respected quartet of veteran character actors in Harrison White (The Kominsky Method, Modern Family), Jack Schumacher (Top Gun: Maverick, S.W.A.T.), Ron Rogge (The Offer, 13 Reasons Why, Stranger Things) and Tom Kiesche (Breaking Bad, NCIS, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation).

Kiesche also conceived the story and wrote the script for KillHer, which is directed by Robyn August (Party with Me). Liam Finn (Training Day, Mr. Saturday Night) served as line producer. Kiesche and Rogge are producers. Producers are Ned Kisner (Dark Asset) and Lan Kay (Dark Feathers). Lan Kisner is the film’s executive producer.

Also heavily involved in the film’s production was director of photography Isaac Park (Party with Me), editor Chris Guiral (Mr. Robot, Homecoming) and costume designer Jennifer Christina DeRosa (Shelf Life, Lawless Range). Casting was done by Iris Hampton (The Last Full Measure), and Michael Teoli (Absolutely Filthy, Neshima) composed the film’s score.

KillHer is a Lankis Entertainment production in association with Rogers Film, Big Quiche and Fastball Films.

Often called the “Sundance of Horror,” Screamfest is the largest and longest running horror film festival in the United States. The 10-day festival features a myriad of premieres and screenings, showcasing new work from American and international independent horror filmmakers.
