Final Destination: Bloodlines is A Gory Fresh Start For The Franchise And Epic Fun

Stefani Reyes (Kaitlyn Santa Juana) is a young woman dealing with horrific nightmares, Night after night she has vivid dreams of a catastrophic disaster at a skyline restaurant and wakes up screaming in her dorm and in class.

The nature of the nightmares is so intense that she is unable to shake them and has fallen into academic probation due to being unable to focus on her studies.

Desperate for answers she heads home and soon realizes that the woman in her visions is her maternal grandmother Iris who like her mother before her; has become a pariah and is not seen nor spoken of in the family.

Desperate for answers, Kaitlyn gets the location of Iris from her Aunt and learns a terrible secret. Her Grandmother saved numerous lives by predicting the skyline disaster and since death has been cheated; it stalks those that escaped and now their bloodlines that resulted from their survival.

“Final Destination: Bloodlines” cleverly revamps the series after an extended absence as it introduces a new storyline and loads of gory deaths while offering a good connection to the past films.

As one tragedy after another befalls Stefani’s family, the remaining group must race to find a way to survive their fates. Tony Todd makes a emotional appearance in the film which is dedicated to his memory to provide some framing on the situation and it is a very emotional while providing continuity and context.

The deaths are a mix of shocking and clever gore that had the audience at our press screening shrieking and laughing as they can be shockingly brutal but are done in such creative ways that people laugh after shrieking as a way to celebrate the chaos on the screen.

The film had higher production values than one might expect in a horror film as the opening sequence alone is worthy of any of the prior entries in the series and brings a new level of mayhem.

I enjoyed the film from start to finish and if you accept the film for what it is and do not ask so many questions like why are the cops not curious when members of one family keep dying days apart; then you will likely have a great time with this new entry which is a fresh start for the franchise and one that I hope leads to more films soon.
