Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning Provides A Perfect Summer Movie Escape

Picking up shortly after the previous movie; “Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning” sees Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) in a race against time to bring down the growing rogue A.I. know as “The Entity” which is taking control of the worlds nuclear weapons with the intent to erase all of humanity.

With his own government hot on his heels, Ethan must locate Gabriel (Esai Morales) to complete his quest to find the source code for the A.I. and fuse it with a virus so it can be trapped and contained.

Naturally this is easier said than done and Ethan will embark with his team on a series of action-packed and stunt-laden missions in order to save the day.

The grand-scale of the film is clear from the start and sequences set on a sunken submarine and planes are some of the most intense and thrilling sequences ever filmed. The fact that Tom Cruise did the stunts himself is even more impressive as the nearly three-hour length of the film was not noticed.

The film does have a slow start to setup the situation and players and unlike previous films in the series; has a more mainline plot that is not filled with so many twists and turns in terms of decoys and Red Herrings which can at time be tricky to keep track of.

The ensemble cast featuring Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Hayley Atwell, and Pom Klementieff work very well and while some question if this is the final entry in the Tom Cruise version of the series; it is clear that the door remains open as this talented team is still more than up to the task.

The movie provides what fans of the series expect and is a perfect summer escape that will keep you on the edge of your seat with the previously mentioned stunt sequences and entertaining characters.
