How To Train Your Dragon Soars As One Of The Best Live Action Remakes Ever

The Isle of Berk is a charming and remote locale inhabited by Vikings ans members of remote tribes from around the world.

Under the leadership of Stoick (Gerard Butler), the town has endured in the face of repeated dragon attacks despite losing his wife in a prior attack.

His son Hiccup (Mason Thames), dreams of fighting dragons but is seen as inept and spends his time as an apprentice Blacksmith.

Hiccup decides to unveil his latest invention and is convinced he has brought down a dragon while being dismissed by the village.

A wounded dragon named Toothless was indeed felled by Hiccup and when they meet an uneasy relationship evolves over time as Hiccup is able to fix the injury keeping Toothless from flying and the two bond over shared flight.

Naturally being friends with your mortal enemies is not something the Vikings want and aside from Astrid (Nico Parker) Hiccup keeps his discovery secret.

Along the way the lessons of understanding, tolerance, peace, and finding your place are given without being heavy-handed or preachy.

The movie is perfectly cast and is an absolute delight from start to finish. Punctuated by great effects and music; this is a film that is perfect for all ages.

I had seen a near final cut of the film at CinemaCon and it was a joy to watch the film again. It was revealed at CinemaCon that plans for a sequel are already underway and I cannot wait to return to Berk.
