Sunflower Bean Rocks The Summer

Sunflower Bean put on a great show at Madam Lou’s this warm summer night.
Their lead singer Julia Cumming brought a commanding voice and a sexuality to the stage. But hey who doesn’t love a chick with a bass? Cumming’s powerful voice is a bonus to her live performance. Nick Kelvin gives Bob Dylan with the nose and curls while his stage presence was was more court jester. He knew how to work his pedals and was no stranger to the guitar change with six string line up worthy of a stadium show.
While Cummings and Kelvun balance each other well Olive Farber on drums offeres up a smooth tempo-always on beat.
Sunflower Bean played a 12-song set to honor their new Album Mortal Primetime – just released April 25th. Seattle was the 14th stop on their 21 city tour and the gave it proper respect with nods to Seattle music history and the connection the band feels to it. Though it has been three years since Sunshine Bean has played the Emerald City, this NY band was ready to bring it.
