Bride Hard Fails To Deliver On An Interesting Premise

When I screened “Bride Hard,” I walked into the theater knowing nothing about it other than it starred Rebel Wilson. Going in blind may be the only reason I enjoyed it as much as I did, which sadly really wasn’t all that much.

Rebel Wilson plays Sam, the childhood best friend of Betsy, played by Anna Camp. Betsy’s getting married and picked Sam to be her maid of honor but it’s made clear early on that Sam hasn’t been able to fulfill her MoH duties because she’s been busy doing secret agent stuff. Sam’s skills eventually come in handy when Betsy’s wedding party is taken hostage by a gang of mercenaries.

The movie may benefit from summer being wedding season as a tame pre-game option for a ladies’ night out, preferably at a theater that serves cocktails. With a little alcohol the jokes might be funnier. But I don’t expect this movie to light up the box office and should be available for streaming soon enough.
