M3gan 2.0 Trades Horror For Action In An Effective Update

The homicidal A.I. M3gan is back in “M3gan 2.0” and the fate of the world hangs in the balance.

After the events of the last film, Gemma (Allison Williams) has become an author and personality who pushes parenting through limiting technology and responsible use and limitations for A.I.

This does not always work with her Niece Cady (Violet McGraw) who finds her Aunt to be lacking as a guardian and hypocritical considering her work created M3gan.

When F.B.I. agents arrive and informs Allison that her designs for M3gan were used by another company to create an enhanced infiltration unit which has gone rogue and killed all who helped create it.

Gemma is also suspected of selling her designs to a foreign power so she ans her team are under surveillance. When M3gan decides to reveal that she is in the house electronics and has manipulated events ranging from Gemma’s book sales to their financial bargain of a home, M3gan becomes a part of the team despite severe concerns over her motives and potential for danger.

Updated with a new body and abilities, M3gan and the team take on the rogue creation named Amelia and soon discover a threat to all of humanity is lurking and that they are relying on the mercurial and dangerous M3gan to see the day.

The sequel moves from subtle horror and suspense to a more action-oriented format as there are gunfights, stabbings, and fight sequences throughout. The film does seem a bit long at times with a plot that is convoluted and tries to do too much.

The film delivers some effective humor and action which makes it a pleasant enough diversion for fans of the series.
