The Naked Gun Brings Frequent Laughs And Absurd Humor In An Effective Reboot

Liam Neeson stars as Frank Drebin Jr. In the new version of “The Naked Gun” and continues the absurd and farcical humor of the originals.

Frank Jr. Has the same ability to stumble upwards as his father as he finds success despite his frequent bunglings and excess actions.

When he finally goes to far and finds himself on a crash investigation; he enters the orbit of Beth Davenport (Pamela Andeson) who is convinced that the crash that killed her brother was no accident.

The investigation leads Frank to a wealthy tech giant (Danny Huston), and into an unexpected relationship with Beth.

Naturally things are never that easy for the Drebin bloodline and Frank Jr. as a series of outrageous and absurd scenarios follow including a crime scene investigation and dinner that go off the tracks.

The film has the same absurdly stupid humor of the originals and the jokes fly fast and frequently.

While they may often be of the Dad Joke groaner variety, they usually land as the laughs were frequent during our screening.

Neeson does a solid job in comedy as he plays it straight with a wink to let the audience know he is in on the jokes.

While it does take some creative math to place him as the currently aged son of Frank Sr. it is easy enough to go along with the farce.

While none of the original creators are involved, Producer Seth McFarlane and Director Akiva Schaffer create enough laughs to bring the series to a new generation.
