The fractured romance drama “Eenie Meanie” has arrived on Hulu and tells the tale of a former teenage getaway driver named Edie (Samara Weaving), who, despite her best efforts to get away from her troubled past through college and a better life, is dragged back to a world she wants to be free of.
Her unreliable and shady ex-boyfriend John (Karl Glusman), has gotten himself into serious trouble, and she can only save his life by agreeing to do another job. Edie has her reasons for helping John despite severe reservations about allowing him into her life again and what the consequences of the job will bring.
As the pair plan their next move, it becomes clear that the game is much larger than they anticipated, and a number of players are in the game, which not only complicates things but forces Edie to make her own plans to find a path to success.
The movie is slow-building but has some great performances by Weaving and Andy Garcia, and the driving and heist sequences are very engaging.
As a streaming release, the movie more than entertains and makes it easy to overlook some of the shortcomings as it was an enjoyable watch on a Saturday morning.
