This sounds good.
Toho International has officially announced its partnership with DSCO to introduce the iconic Godzilla to Sneaker Con Los Angeles, the world’s leading sneaker show.
“Known for pushing boundaries, streetwear has been an integral part of Godzilla”, says Kevin Fukuhara, Licensing Manager of Toho International. “We encourage our partners to draw, customize, and articulate Godzilla in their own way, resulting in catered product offerings and designs dedicated to their fanbase. We hope collectors and trendsetters attending Sneaker Con Los Angeles enjoy the exclusive Godzilla products we will be offering in partnership with Mitsuhiro Arita.”
In celebration of Godzilla’s 70th anniversary, DSCO is debuting an exclusive merchandise collection, featuring original artwork from world renowned illustrator Mitsuhiro Arita (Pokémon, Final Fantasy). Arita honors the King of Monsters with three exclusive illustrations:
-
Burning Godzilla – Reimagining the iconic “Burning Godzilla” from Godzilla vs. Destoroyah in a dynamic, ukiyo-e inspired composition, Arita-san celebrates Godzilla’s fearsome persona while honoring his legacy as an enduring symbol of strength and transformation.
-
Godzilla vs King Ghidorah – Capturing the epic confrontation between Godzilla and his archenemy King Ghidorah, Arita-san pays tribute to the late Noriyoshi Ohrai, whose signature sense of scale, cinematic tension, and atmospheric drama left a lasting influence on his composition.
-
Godzilla (Noh Variant) – Drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese Noh theater, Arita-san places Godzilla within the timeless aesthetic of a Noh stage backdrop, capturing the monster’s formidable presence.
“It was both an honor and a challenge to interpret Godzilla through the lens of three iconic Japanese traditions: Hokusai’s expressive natural forces, Noriyoshi Ohrai’s bold poster art, and the meditative stillness of Rinpa,” shared Mitsuhiro Arita.
“This collaboration is a celebration of Arita-san’s artistry. His work has shaped how we see iconic characters, bringing new depth to the King of the Monsters, and we’re honored to help share that vision,” said Kevin Masaki, co-founder of DSCO.
“As a lifelong fan of Godzilla and Toho, from the early days of anime crossovers to collecting soft vinyl figures, it’s an honor to see that passion come full circle through this special Sneaker Con x Toho collaboration,” shared Sneaker Con CEO & Co-founder, Alan Vinogradov. “This collection is more than merchandise, it’s a tribute to legacy, culture, and the monster that started it all.”
DSCO’s exclusive collection will also include tees, tote bags, trading cards, and special Diamond Supply slides. Kaiju lovers will be able to purchase the collection at the official merchandise booth of Sneaker Con Los Angeles or order online at sneakercon.com.
