Mabel (Piper Curda) is a passionate young lady dedicated to conservation and animal rights. Her approach has landed her in trouble at school and only her Grandmother seems to understand her.
Mabel and her Grandmother bond over a pristine area and the animals who call the water home.
Years Later Mabel carries on the tradition in the memory of her Grandmother in the new Disney/Pixar movie “Hoppers”.
When the charismatic Mayor Jerry (Jon Hamm) plans to pave the preserve for a new highway; Mabel goes into action. Her efforts lead her to a discovery at her University as her Professor has discovered a way to transfer a human mind into a remote animal surrogate.
Mabel hijack the technology and poses as a Beaver and delights in being able to communicate with the other animals as she gathers them to resist the construction project.
Naturally Mabel is hiding her true nature and her budding friendship with King George ( Bobby Moynihan), and the other animals causes her to have divided emotions.
What follows is a charming and at times hysterical take with a touch of conservation.
The true magic of the film is how it addresses the subject of conservation without being overly heavy-handed even though it is the ce real theme of the film.
The menagerie of characters really work well and there are some solid laughs.
While it takes a bit to get started and some younger viewers may be impatient with the setup, the story delivers what fans have come to expect.
The animation is solid as one would expect nothing less from a Disney/Pixar production and “Hoppers” delivers.
