Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) returns in The Punisher: One Last Kill, which has arrived on Disney+
Clocking in at a brisk 44 minutes, audiences find Frank suicidal as he has seemingly accomplished the last aspects of his revenge and, despite a chaotic city, has opted to end his life and seek peace.
Unable to complete his plans, he is haunted by a person from his past who wants revenge for the killing of her family as part of Frank’s revenge.
Frank is informed that a bounty has been placed on him to begin at the same moment he killed the last member of her family.
Frank is soon under attack by legions of thugs and dispatches them brutally using knives, bats, guns, and whatever he can grab from his attackers.
As the bodies pile up, Frank becomes even more dangerous as his instincts take over, and he realizes he has unfinished work ahead of him.
A nice subplot about a local family and the Deli they own is included, but the brutal action is in keeping with the R-Rated tone of the character.
The brutal and intense action shows a darker side of Marvel, and one that I hope they explore further, as it for me has really enhanced the recent Daredevil series.
We will see Frank soon in the next Spider-Man movie, and hopefully soon after.
