The Housemaid’s Secret Casts Paul Anthony Kelly

This looks like a real casting win.

Lionsgate announced today that PAUL ANTHONY KELLY, who is getting Emmy nomination buzz for his portrayal of John F. Kennedy, Jr., in “Love Story,” will play Douglas in the highly anticipated sequel The Housemaid’s Secret, opposite Sydney Sweeney and Kirsten Dunst, the sequel to the $400-million-grossing blockbuster The Housemaid. Michele Morrone will also return to star as Enzo, reprising his role from the first film. Paul Feig returns to direct the project, joined by the producers: Hidden Pictures’ Todd Lieberman; Laura Fischer and Feig, who produce for Pretty Dangerous Pictures; and Sweeney, through her Honey Trap banner.

The film will open on 12/17/27 in wide release.

Lionsgate identified and optioned Freida McFadden’s literary trilogy (plus a fourth entry, a short story) early on, long before the books became New York Times bestsellers, recognizing the series’ massive potential. With The Housemaid’s Secret set to enter production later this year, the studio anticipates adapting even more of McFadden’s beloved thrillers from the world of The Housemaid in the years ahead.

Screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine, who adapted the first book, will also return to write The Housemaid’s Secret, based on the bestseller by Freida McFadden. Carly Elter, who oversaw the first movie for Hidden Pictures, is returning as executive producer. Alex Young of Hidden Pictures will also executive produce. Honey Trap’s Kaylee McGregor will co-produce.

Chelsea Kujawa and Maria Ascanio are overseeing the film for Lionsgate.

Synopsis: In The Housemaid’s Secret, Millie returns, taking a job keeping house for a woman she’s never allowed to see—only to discover the truth behind the locked door that threatens to expose secrets far darker than her own.

PAUL ANTHONY KELLY, following his breakout role as John F. Kennedy, Jr., in “Love Story,” is set to reunite with Ryan Murphy in the next season of “American Horror Story.” The Housemaid’s Secret will be his first film role. He is represented by Innovative Artists, Luber Rocklin, and Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz.
