Rovio has kicked off Angry Birds 2’s Season of Football, a limited-time in-game event inspired by the wave of football fever sweeping across the globe this summer. Angry Birds 2 players can take to the pitch with exciting football-themed in-game challenges, events and score exclusive rewards via a special Treasure pass. And a special invitation to an Angry Bird of another kind: Brazil’s Mascot, Canarinho.

This season, our host, Red invites Canarinho to join in The Great Debate, Hosted by Red and Brazil’s Mascot, Canarinho, where fans can cast their vote to settle the “Football vs. Soccer” debate for good. Vote on the Red’s Club website here. Players will also see the arrival of a special “Canarinho Spell” in-game, unleashing an extra burst of the canary mascot’s “Pistola” energy onto Piggy Island through a football-inspired boost. The Season of Football also introduces a brand-new Treasure Pass Season and various special-themed challenges, including a skill-based Golden Ball Challenge, and the Football Showdown Bracket Tournament, inspired by the fan-favorite Rowdy Rumble tournament event. Fans can also participate in the Angry Birds Cup, and will even be rewarded in-game with Red Feathers to boost Red’s power for every Red Card issued in real-world matches. The spirit of the World Cup is heading to Palia! The free-to-play fantasy life sim adventure game recently launched its first summer-themed update, featuring a new Lunar Path called Path of the Champion, offering rewards such as the Champion’s outfit, which can be customized with World Cup competing teams’ flags, jersey numbers and Palia-themed designs. There’s also a new in-game event running from June 16 to June 23 called The World Claw, bringing players together to join teams for Crabs versus Frogs.
