Lots of news today from Ubisoft.
The Division 2 Year 8 Season 2, Into the Dark, is here, and it’s bringing thrilling new challenges to the agents in D.C. Hyenas are running rampant in the streets, armed with a new, more powerful Spice, and reports of missing agents are on the rise. They store the spice in Sample Cannisters throughout the city’s Dark Zones, so it’s time for Division Agents to step up and shine a light on the darkest places in D.C.
Dark Zones
- Toxic Dark Zone: A PvE experience tailored for players that enjoy PvE content, players cannot go Rogue and engage in PvP combat. The goal is simple: shut down the spice production and collect the new chemicals in Sample Cannisters, which powers the season’s modifier. The map on which this ruleset is active will also rotate, keeping the experience fresh.
- Balanced Dark Zone: This fully normalized PvP experience is tailored for players who don’t normally play the current Dark Zone system, this ruleset removes SHD and Expertise levels from stats calculators, creating a more even playing field.
- Classic PvP Dark Zone: Coming later this season, this experience is tailored for experienced Dark Zone players, power is uncapped in this rotation, encouraging players to bring their strongest builds.
- Addressing Talents that have too much impact on PvP meta
- Reducing some of the biggest power spikes
- Giving more builds a chance to compete in Conflict and Dark Zone
- Investing resources to ensure fair play, with anti-cheat updates arriving throughout the season
- This is just the first PvP balancing update of many, as it lays the foundation for future updates.
- A new season means new Modifiers, which can buff your gameplay – and that of your enemies – in exciting ways. Into the Dark’s Modifiers include:
- 1 Global Modifier – tasks players with recovering Sample Cannisters from Dark Zones
- 3 Active Modifiers – provide powerful buffs to healing, weapon swap speed, and skill efficiency. Automatically consumes Sample Cannisters if you have enough in your inventory to trigger Surged Active Modifier, a more powerful version of the buff.
- 9 Passive Modifiers – passive buffs that can reduce Surge costs, improve resistance to Toxicity and Status Effects in the Dark Zone, and more
- 3 Hostile Modifiers – countermeasures against the rising powers of the Division, these strengthen enemies, boost nearby faction members, and rapidly increase Toxicity levels in the PvE Dark Zone, making every encounter more dangerous.
- Conspiracy Zone Hideout – June 16 – track down an unknown piece of Division tech that is repeatedly pinging the SHD network
- McMillan Reservoir Assault – available later this season – when an injured Division Agent is injured in a turf war between the True Sons and Hyenas, it’s up to you to come to his aid
