Lots of great Borderlands 4 news.
Borderlands 4 Bounty Pack 3 Plus Free Takedown at Hadron Abyss and Circle of Slaughter Now Available
Today, 2K and Gearbox Software released the Version 1.8 update for Borderlands 4, delivering a wave of free and premium endgame content to Kairos. Players can charge headlong into all-new narrative content in Bounty Pack 3: A Zane to Kill For, test their mettle against the grueling Takedown at Hadron Abyss, and enjoy the surprise return of the Circle of Slaughter gauntlet mode.
Version 1.8 also officially rolls out Cross-Platform Saves, letting players seamlessly transfer Vault Hunter adventures across any platform where Borderlands 4 is owned.
Bounty Pack 3: A Zane to Kill For
Bounty Pack 3 includes the narrative expansion A Zane to Kill For, where players will journey into a neon-noir arcade game to solve the mystery of who murdered Zane(‘s Digi-Clone backup). This all-new repeatable mission features a new boss, two new mini-bosses, and new high-tier gear.
Alongside the Bounty Pack 3 launch, there is also the new Vault Card 3, which lets players earn new arcade-themed rewards, including 24 cosmetic items and four pieces of rerollable gear, through gameplay. Beginning with Bounty Pack 3, the core narrative expansion, A Zane to Kill For, and Vault Card 3 are available for individual purchase.
Free Endgame Raid: Takedown at Hadron Abyss
The Takedown at Hadron Abyss is an upcoming monumental endgame challenge, free for all players. Accessible via any major hub Raid Board after beating the main campaign, this brutal raid sends Vault Hunters into a brand new zone, Hadron Abyss, a secret, fully submerged underwater research station filled with mutated horrors and aquatic apex predators.
Players’ builds and skills will be put to the test as they attempt to navigate the new sprawling area filled with mobs to go toe-to-fin with the final boss, the Child of Terramorphous. Enemies scale dynamically to party size, and players looking to push themselves to the limit can activate Mayhem levels or the one-life Hardcore mode for maximum intensity.
The takedown offers new and enticing rewards, with dedicated drops for both the miniboss and Child of Terramorphous, including:
- One New Pearlescent Weapon:
- Shark Bait (Tediore Shotgun): Damaging enemies applies stacks of Chum; when you build enough stacks, the enemy explodes for additional damage.
- Nine New Pieces of Legendary Gear:
- Ishmael (Order Sniper Rifle): Fires harpoons that bleed the targets for additional damage over time.
- Shoals (Jakobs Pistol): Critical hits deal splash damage, and Ricochets spawn damaging novas.
- Marshall’s Claw (Maliwan Sniper Rifle): Fires three projectiles in a five-shot burst, with Fire Rate increasing after each shot.
- Swan Song (Daedalus Shotgun): Primary fire kills cause explosive cannonball projectiles to be fired from the underbarrel.
- Fishward (Jakobs Assault Rifle): Hitting your target will spawn fish projectiles that drunkenly swim towards any nearby enemies, which grant a stacking damage increase to your next magazine when they score a kill.
- Little Sister (Tediore Shield): When this shield is broken, it summons a drone that fires shots at nearby enemies when you land hits for a percentage of current weapon’s damage.
- Vitae (Jakobs Repkit): Critical hits will heal you for a set amount.
- Ordinance (Tediore Grenade Ordnance): Throws a book-shaped grenade that spreads damaging pages as it travels.
- Draupner (Order Heavy Weapon Ordnance): Fires multiple projectiles that spawn even more projectiles, which return back towards you whenever they hit an enemy, bounce off a surface, or travel for a set amount of time.
- Five New Class Mods: A unique Class Mod will be available for each current Vault Hunter. A sixth Class Mod will be added to this loot pool in September when the next Vault Hunter, Loveless the Hacker, arrives in Story Pack 2.
Returning Circle of Slaughter Gauntlet Mode
The beloved, wave-based gauntlet mode from Borderlands 3 makes a surprise return, reimagined and completely free for all players as a response to massive fan feedback. Circle of Slaughter requires players to survive five rounds of three increasingly deadly waves, with a brutal boss crashing the third wave of every round. Completing a round presents a choice: cash out in the prize room to claim Legendary and Pearlescent world drops from the loot cannons, or risk everything by advancing to the next, tougher round.
Fallen co-op players enter a penalty box to spectate and actively support or troll teammates with special switches that deploy confetti, fecal waste, or elemental barrels. Additionally, spawning a Badass enemy directly into the arena provides an opportunity for immediate revival; if the remaining squad eliminates the threat, fallen Vault Hunters instantly rejoin the action.
Circle of Slaughter is designed to be a highly replayable experience, so players will have infinite chances to chase new loot and push their builds to try and make it all the way in one piece.
Coming Soon: Bounty Pack 4, Story Pack 2, and an All-New Vault Hunter
Looking ahead at the post-launch roadmap, even more massive drops are on the horizon. On July 30, Bounty Pack 4: Murders & Acquisitions arrives alongside the Version 1.9 update. Then, in early September, Bounty Pack 5 and Story Pack 2 drop, featuring the all-new playable Vault Hunter: Loveless the Hacker, who players received a sneak peek of during the latest DevCast.
Loveless is an ex-Anshin hacker turned assassin. Equipped with the highest-end cybernetics, Loveless also shares her mind with a digital virus of her own creation, which can digistruct into a physical form that acts as a deadly extension of her shared, perfection-seeking will. Stay tuned for more information on Loveless and the upcoming Story Pack 2 in the future!
Players that own Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition are automatically granted access to all of the content from the Bounty Pack Bundle (Bounty Packs 2, 3, 4, and 5) and Vault Hunter Pack (Story Packs 1 and 2), while Borderlands 4 Deluxe Edition grants the Bounty Pack Bundle. Bounty Packs and Story Packs are also available for individual purchase.
