August 28, 2026 — Hollywood Records releases the Original Video Game Soundtrack for Marvel’s Wolverine. Scored by acclaimed composer David Fleming (Widow’s Bay, The Last of Us, Superman), the complete soundtrack is available today on all major digital streaming platforms. The announcement that Fleming would helm the game’s score first broke to packed crowds at San Diego Comic-Con, sparking widespread excitement and anticipation among Marvel fans and gaming enthusiasts alike. Pre-orders for the vinyl album begin September 15, coinciding with the game’s release on PlayStation 5 consoles.

Fleming remarks on the score, “It only seemed right that I would start creating the music for Wolverine in the wilderness, or the closest thing I could find – a barn in the California desert packed with instruments more typical of a western than of a Super Hero story. Wolverine is, of course, a Super Hero – one of the most beloved – but it’s what makes him unique within that pantheon that resonates with me and so many. He feels like a man out of time – his archetype more in step with gunslingers of the western frontier or the wandering ronin of feudal Japan. Most crucially – there is a conflict at his core. Logan is at once a feral, animalistic loner while also a man of deep emotion, with a sense of honor as unbending as his metallic skeleton. His reclusive nature belies a heart in search of belonging, and of its own purpose. I was thrilled to get the chance to explore Logan’s complexity through music, and to help shape this character I’ve loved since reading Wolverine comics as a kid.
Of course, the Marvel universe is full of colorful characters, and it was an insane and exciting challenge to color the score in a similar way – brutally distorted sadist-rock for Sabretooth, undulating harp arpeggios and guitars for Jean Grey. In truth, I much prefer talking about the characters than the sound of the music itself. If ‘symphonic techno-western’ seems like nonsense, it’s because it is and should never be spoken of again. The score simply strives to be as exciting and muti-faceted as the heroes and villains of this incredible story, and it was an absolute pleasure to go on that journey with my friends at Insomniac Games, Sony Interactive Entertainment, and Marvel Games.”

About David Fleming
David Fleming is an Emmy-winning American composer who has written music for film and television. Fleming co-scored James Gunn’s DC film Superman and HBO’s The Last of Us, for which he received a World Soundtrack Award nomination as Television Composer of the Year as well as an SCL award nomination. His score for Ron Howard’s Jim Henson: Idea Man earned him a Primetime Emmy Award in addition to the ASCAP Composer’s Choice Award for Documentary Score of the Year, with his work on Amazon’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith bringing him a second Emmy nomination.
His recent work includes the score for the Apple TV+ series Widow’s Bay for which he received his third Primetime Emmy nomination, and the Sony Pictures feature Anaconda, as well as A24’s Eternity, which resulted in an SCL nomination. Upcoming projects include scoring Marvel’s Wolverine video game, set for release in September 2026, and the score for the Superman sequel Man of Tomorrow, set for Summer 2027.
