Twisted Tower Is A Engaging And Creative FPS That Delivers Action And Nostalgia

I first played the demo for Twisted Tower in Feb. 2025 and was intrigued by the potential of the game. A first-person shooter set in a 1940s esque theme park where players had to avoid traps, solve puzzles, and fight their way through a tower filled with carnival style attractions and dangers.

The game has finally arrived, and I can say that the full release is even more challenging and engaging than the demo.

Armed with an interesting assortment of pistols, guns, launchers, missiles, and a mallet, players must battle an army of characters as they fight to save their girlfriend. Along the way, the option to upgrade weapon abilities such as ammunition capacity, reload speed, damage, and more can be done at various stations by the use of tickets that are obtained along the way.

Health is restored by consuming various treats that would be found at a carnival and adds to the whimsical nature of the game.

Levels have all sorts of challenges such as puzzles to solve, rides to travel, and grappling puzzles where you have to activate hot spots and navigate to them via grapple before time expires. There are also jump and dash moments that various upgrades you earn each level can help with.

Completing a level earns you a ticket that unlocks the next floor, and they become more and more whimsical and dangerous as you progress.

Science Fiction, casino, water park, and more all fill the tower, and regardless if you are swimming to save the day, fighting on a carnival midway, or riding a coaster to the next challenge, the immersive factor is fun.

Some may get Bioshock vibes, but the action, puzzles, and gameplay had me engaged from start to finish and have made Twisted Tower one of the more enjoyable FPS experiences in recent memory.

Graphically, the mix of retro and modern blends well, and the sound effects and music set the tone well, as carnival sounds add to the mix without overpowering the story and action.

In the end, the game is a delight from start to finish with a nice twist to the story that fits well.

The game is PC only and delivers what fans of the genre want.
