Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Delivers The Xenomorph Stomping Action Fans Expect With An Engaging New Story

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 has arrived, and it continues the intense Xenomorph action that made the first game in the series a popular entry with fans and gamers alike.

The time out players can play as one of four marines and have various classes from Medic to Marauder which each bring different skills into the missions.

Players will be able to customize their player and load their arsenal, which can be changed and upgraded over time at the ship supply area.

The missions follow the pattern of the original as players will explore, fight, and discover their way through some highly-detailed maps that involves, ships, stations, hives, and other locales which are like stepping directly into the Alien Universe in their detail.

Gameplay is from a third-person perspective and at times the addition of a fourth Marine made some camera angles a bit awkward during combat. Players will be able to dive out of the way of enemies, which is a good thing, as swarms of enemies charge out at you frequently and are not against popping up behind you in a heated battle.

Players will be able to get ammunition, health, and items along the way but must be careful to balance them as there were missions where we were down to pistols and melee options as we attempted to fight our way to a restock.

The units do offer special abilities which run on a timer and playing as a Marauder, I had a rocket barrage and a shotgun-like blast which really came in handy when ammo was low and against larger foes and swarms.

Enemies range from the standard Alien Xenomorph to multiple variations, and there are some surprise enemies that emerge at times to make a break from the constant bug stomping.

Missions are assigned on the ship after talking with members of the crew, and players will be able to select their responses, which in turn dictate the responses given.

The character animation in those segments could use some polish as they seemed very dated at times, and the dialogue from some characters was at times very cringy and annoying, especially one overly-excited individual that makes you wonder how they became a Colonial Marine, much less someone put in charge of teams.

The main focus of the game is the action, and the story is satisfying enough, and the action keeps you engaged enough to allow some of the issues to be overlooked.

Matchmaking was fairly easy and there was the option to play with Synth companions should other players not be available but this rarely arose as I was always able to find people to play with save for one morning where I opted for a 5:00 AM session.

In the end, there is enough here to keep fans happy, and hopefully future DLC will come similar to the original, which will give players plenty of new missions to enjoy.
