We are under a month from the release of the highly anticipated Playstation VR from Sony and with contest and promotions in high gear for the unit; I thought we would take a look at some of the best options for gamers who are getting the unit at launch.
I have had a few sessions with the gear at PAX Prime 2015, PAX West 2016, and have seen it in action at E3 and such so I have been fortunate to test the unit and have really enjoyed it. As such, here are my suggestions for must get games for the system for those looking to start their VR library.
Headmaster
Since it was the first game I played on the system it has left a solid impression on me. The game requires players to head soccer balls fired at them from all angles and elevations into a goal and at targets. It is not as easy as it sounds and considering how the targets change, move, and explode, it is a fun workout and challenge.
EVE Valkyrie
I played this first on the Oculus Rift but as someone who devoured Wing Commander and the numerous off-shoots of the game, strapping into a fighter and mixing it up amongst big ships and fighters was something not to miss. Launching was a thrill as was the highly immersive space setting and combat.
Until Dawn: Rush of Blood
I have not had a chance to play this game but was a big fan of Until Dawn. The idea of a Rail Shooter and horror combination set in the mines and giving players a mix of thrills and scares is something not to miss.
Rigs Mechanized Combat League
I played this recently and was hooked from the start. The massive prep chamber and thrill of strapping into a Rig was secondary to the huge rush of trying to score and take out enemy Rigs in the arena. It was a fast and highly enjoyable game and I cannot wait to try more of the gameplay modes out.
The London Heist
From being threatened by a heavy straight from a Guy Ritchie film to locking and loading and taking out attacking enemies, this appears to be a great mix of action drama and has raised my interest significantly in the title.
