Observer: System Redux Makes A Classic Even Better

I never got the chance to play the original Observer, but I took the opportunity to review the Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Observer: System Redux, which gives gamers an enhanced version of the game while keeping the best parts of the original version.

Set in 2084, players play as an enhanced Detective named Daniel Lazarski, who is voiced by the late Rutger Hauer. Daniel can hack into the minds and dreams of individuals in order to do his research and locate clues that could not be found by conventional methods of investigation.

This is vital as Daniel works in a world reeling from a plague, war, and corporate oppression.

Boasting 4K graphics and 60 FPS gameplay, the digital and dark world comes alive as Daniel investigates murder scenes and uses his abilities to gain clues to help the investigation.

At first, this took me some work, as while I was able to scan and locate various clues, having to stay in place until I found everything was a bit frustrating at times, as I was adapting to the Switch 2 control systems and multiple modes of scanning and detection.

The visually complex world is a true Cyperpunk vision, and the world is filled with all manner of shady characters, many of whom are infused with cybernetic enhancements as well.

The story was engaging as one clue after another indicated a darker and deadly mystery was unfolding, and one that had a personal connection for Daniel.

The highly detailed look and sounds of the world add to the immersion, as fans of the genre will appreciate the enhanced visuals and features.

The game is a perfect example of enhancing a classic original while maintaining all of the aspects that defined the game from the start. I cannot recommend this game enough for fans of the original and those who love a dark Cyberpunk adventure.
