Jay and Silent Bob’s Joint Venture is a raunchy new take on a cozy farming genre – if those crops were akin to Jay and Silent Bob’s specific cultural tastes. The game is a love letter to filmmaker Kevin Smith’s beloved cult classic characters – within the digital realm. Players will build, cultivate and expand their operation, interact with familiar faces, and experience an original story featuring Kevin Smith’s iconic characters.

“Joint Venture is a Jay and Silent Bob game, but it’s actually a continuation of Kevin Smith’s View Askewniverse,” says Nitrate Games co-founder Montana Sommese. “The central narrative picks up where the films left off, making the game a kind of sequel. Players can befriend and engage with their favorite characters from Kevin Smith’s movies like never before. As we update the game over time, we’re excited to be able to expand Kevin’s story universe with narrative updates that will continue building from his cinematic universe.”

The panel, which included Smith himself, featured Nitrate Games co-founders Daniel Kendrick, Montana Sommese and Nick Madonna alongside Creative Director Chase Marotz and Game Designer Idan Saban.

Among the reveals of the game during the panel were most of the characters from within Kevin Smith’s films, including Clerks’ Dante, Randal & Veronica; Mallrats’ Brodie & T.S. Quint; Chasing Amy’s Holden, Banky, Hooper & Alyssa; Dogma’s Azrael & Serendipity; Clerks II’s Becky & Elias; and the ever-present Mooby. Celebrated live-action and animation scribe Ernie Altbacker (Batman: Hush, Justice League Dark) is the game’s writer. Both Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes have been involved from the start, shepherding the creative vision.

Jay and Silent Bob’s Joint Venture is currently heading toward its play testing phase of production, with an expected release in late Spring 2027 on Steam/PC. A console release is also slated for 2027. Fans can learn more and sign up to playtest and wishlist at https://joint-venture.firstlook.gg/signup/joint-venture.

Nitrate Games has been busy in its foray into the industry, pursuing popular, nostalgic and niche genre IP for a variety of upcoming games to be announced in the near future.

“Nitrate Games is working with a lot of film and TV brands from the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s,” says co-founder Daniel Kendrick, “and coming up with new twists that we can build into popular game genres, and will hopefully raise an eyebrow with consumers and gamers. At the same time, we’re doing Nitrate originals, and we’re working with a lot of film directors and screenwriters and showrunners on the concepts and art, and then game devs to get really compelling mechanics and design.”

Nitrate Games is the brainchild of Kendrick, Montana Sommese and Nick Madonna. Co-Founder & CEO Kendrick previously ran IDW Entertainment, working on films & games for properties like Locke & Key, Wynonna Earp, 30 Days of Night, Godzilla, Sonic the Hedgehog and 250 other titles. He was the co-executive producer of last year’s breakthrough hit Batman Azteca for Warner Bros. Animation. Sommese, Nitrate’s Co-Founder, has served more than 15 years at the intersection of Hollywood and gaming, specializing in adapting premier IP for the next generation of players and delivering dozens of experiences for industry titans like Warner Bros. and Fox.  Serving as Nitrate’s Head of Development, Madonna boasts more than 20 years of experience working on game titles for Saber Interactive, Square Enix, & Vivendi Universal. Madonna also runs PHL Collective, a leading licensed entertainment developer delivering award-winning titles for world-class IPs like Star Wars, Justice League and SpongeBob SquarePants.

“From the time Hugh Jackman showed up as Wolverine, comics have been seen as the font of pop culture,” Kendrick explained. “But now, we are seeing a shift, and a new pop culture source forming from indie video games. I want Nitrate Games to be a part of that wave over the next 20 years. We bring comic book sensibilities and strategies to indie games. In the same way that Dark Horse and Image Comics and IDW had this wave of new indie comics with compelling voices, we want to do that for indie games.”
