Into the mix arrives “Wicker” which is a quirky and off-beat tale of a woman known as Fisher Woman (Olivia Colman), who is a spinster in her quirky community run with a male-dominant structure. She grows tired of the society jabs at her single status and hires a local craftsman (Peter Dinklage) to craft her a husband made of Wicker to marry. The creation is animated, attentive, and charming, and soon becomes the envy of the town as the Wicker Husband (Alexander Skarsgard) does work around the house and improves life for his wife.
This throws the society into chaos as woman now see that their husbands are lacking in their attentiveness and care and soon demand more from life now that they have seen options.
What follows is a tale of love, jealousy, and whimsical charm as the characters must adapt to the new situation as nothing will be the same again.
The movie has a very strong cast who give great performances and the supporting cast is very strong. Characters all have their moments which underscores the sense of community and change and the offbeat nature of the story is unique, absurdly fun, and defies expectations.
