Life is otherwise normal for people in New York despite opposition to the law as married couples are exempt from the restrictions and society has created an evening where people set aside traditional boundaries for the evening.
Allie (Monica Barbaro) is a talented singer who does not like performing in front of an audience. So she spends her days adapting songs to create ads for various drug companies and their products.
Owen (Callum Turner), is an owner of a Pizza restaurant who enjoys a relationship with his girlfriend and has big plans for the evening and looks forward to what his future will hold.
Allie understands what the night is about but wants a meaningful connection that she hopes will last after the evening has ended. She sets off into the night at the urging of her friends hoping to find romance beyond the physical options of the evening.
Owen and Allie are about to have an evening neither of them will forget as fate has them come and go from each other as the evening unfolds as events continue to unite and part them as the evening unfolds.
While many might see this as an inevitable pairing, the path is filled with twists and turns and some hysterical and touching moments that are powered by the great chemistry between the leads.
What at first seemed like a standard romantic tale with a twist soon became a deeply enjoyable romantic tale of an evening that I did not want to end. The music and comedy in the movie were very effective and enjoyable as were some of the supporting cast which included a very creative casting for Owen’s mom and her boyfriend which stole every scene in which they were in.
I was delighted from start to finish by the film as it took what seemed to be a bizarre scenario and turned it into a romantic and relatable tale of two people finding their way in a crazy world and realizing what is truly important to them even when it defies expectations.
The movie was a very unexpected treat and one that I think fans of romantic tales will absolutely love.
